A Guide to Enlightenment

I. Practice empathy. Perceive a person within their own self narrative. Listen without judgement. Context is necessary to meaningfully empathize with someone. As any other skill, it gets easier with conscious practice.

II. Emotional awareness/intelligence (“eq”) is essential in determining credibility and in identifying motivation. Body language, nonverbal cues, and micro-expressions, including our own, help us “read the room,” and become self aware.

III. Practicing empathy leads to ego death, through the mastery of detachment; we lose our attachment to our self narrative as we grasp different perspectives. While “killing” the ego can be relatively traumatic, it provides an opportunity to recreate the self from a neutral standpoint.

IV. Ego death is only meaningful if it is not replaced by another destructive ego.

V. One should continually ask, “How should I act?” rather than, “Who am I”? By consciously engaging in life and by establishing positive habits over time, we empower the subconscious self which is no longer encumbered by limiting beliefs associated with the ego.

VI. There is always an ideal way to act. The ideal act is done confidently, lovingly, and with conscious efficiency. When we act with confidence and love, we reap the same and leave no room for fear or hatred.

VII. Confidence comes from knowledge of our loving nature and by having the discipline to keep in alignment with our loving nature through our actions.

VIII. Although it is commonly used as such, “love” is not a verb. It is also not a feeling or spontaneous moment of realization, although it is often portrayed that way in popular culture. Love is a quality.

IX. When having trouble determining what it means to act lovingly, follow the example set by Yahushua, reflect on the Golden Rule and ask, “If the roles were reversed, how would I want to be treated?”

X. Love is abundant in our lives. We express love in varying degrees in all that we do. As we become conscious of this, we learn to express our love indiscriminately and unconditionally, just as the sun shines.

XI. As we practice, we intuitively act in alignment with our loving nature with greater efficiency and join the celebration of Nirvana - living eternally as an expression of love.
